Two Urban Screen gatherings in Amsterdam

The first CASZuidas Urban Screen Festival will take place on September 4th and 5th 2009. The Festival will be held in the surroundings of the urban screen in the south of Amsterdam just outside the railway station Amsterdam Zuid. The program brings among other things movies and art presentations and a symposium on moving images in public life. On Friday the program starts at 5 pm an ends around midnight. On Saturday activities are planned from 1 pm until 11 pm.

On December 4th 2009 Urban Screens 09 will take place in Amsterdam. Urban Screens is a series of events and seminars that has been organized around the theme of outdoor display screens (LED signs, plasma screens, projection boards, information terminals as well as intelligent architectural surfaces) in urban areas. It supports the idea of using public space as a platform for creation and cultural exchange, strengthening the local economy and encouraging public discussion. Urban Screens 09 will update, draw upon and bring together the themes considered in the previous events in Amsterdam 2005, Manchester 2007 and Melbourne 2008. It will consist of a book launch at the TrouwAmsterdam in Amsterdam and present a program involving guest speakers. The event is currently in development and more information will be available in September. The conference will be organised by the Institute of Network Cultures in Amsterdam and NAi in Rotterdam.
